Any new parent would be nervous when they hear that their child may be having apnea events while asleep such as pauses in breathing. With the smart monitor 2 which is the newest technology available for home monitoring it allows us to log on to a wireless modem and review the study in the event any alarms are to go off. The purpose of the apnea monitor is to monitor continuous or event recording of cardio respiratory events. Typically a Apnea monitor would be used on new born babies discharged from the hospital .

    A lot of parents would ask what is apnea, and there are three types of apnea. There is central, obstructive, and mixed. Cerebral Palsy and Pediatric Power chairs

Cerebral palsy is caused by damage to the motor control of the brain and is said to be caused by child birth, during pregnancy, and even after birth at up to the age of three. When this disability occurs it limits the movement and posture causing activity limitations. A child with Cerebral palsy might not be able to walk, talk, eat, or play the way most kids do.

Bili Blankets

Bili Blankets

Hyperbilirubinemia, or neonatal jaundice is where a new born infant bili rubin levels are elevated within the blood stream. Typically elevated bili rubin levels symptoms are lethargy, poor sucking reflex, fever, and even apnea. Normally you will begin to notice the jaundice in the face and spread to other extremities. If elevated bili rubin levels are left untreated the long term effects can be permanent brain damage.

 If a baby is found to have any kind of jaundice it is recommended the physician office to complete blood work to determine the Bili Levels. If it’s between 10-15 ml typically home health care is the best option and cost effective. By providing a new born with a bili blankets and avoiding a hospital admission were are providing the same care as a hospital photo therapy, and avoiding the new born from being receptive to other infectious diseases in a hospital setting.
